United Presbyterian Church – Director of Music

There is an immediate opening for the position of Director of Music at the United Presbyterian Church 150 Main Street, Hornell, NY.  Interested candidates should send a letter of interest, including references.  This announcement will remain open until the position is filled.

The Director of Music will select and direct appropriate music for the services of worship and coordinate the total music program.  Plan, prepare, and direct music appropriate to each service of worship. Direct the choir and organist in rehearsal and presentation of selected music. Train choir in choral techniques, appreciation of sacred music, and leadership and participation in worship. Recruit members of choir to maintain quality. Provide the Administrative Assistant with the service music title and composer. Supervise the organization and maintenance of the music library. Evaluate and select music for acquisition. Supervise maintenance of the church organ and pianos. Act as resource person for the Music and Worship Committee, assisting in the development of Christian worship and music needs of the congregation. Attend Music and Worship Committee meetings.
